Welcome to Doctors that Code!
Hello and welcome!
My name is Sam McInerney, and thank you for visiting my blog!
I'm an oncology registrar at the Beatson Cancer Centre in Glasgow.
This blog and community discussion board is for healthcare professionals who also code. As a Computer Scientist who changed career after a decade to become an oncologist, I appreciate more than most the problems and potential for solutions within the NHS.

With the explosion of AI, the incredible ease at which people can learn to program, AI programming co-pilots, and an internet of coding resources available, there has never been a better time to get involved and start coding!

Alongside this, there are a lot of avenues whereby coding can make big differences in patient care driven by doctors, such as the UK innovation programs in London and the CSO academic innovation program up here in Scotland. So please join the conversation, join with like-minded others, and bring sweeping change to our NHS through the medium of code.

I'll be adding blogs with my current work, doing a newsletter, and posting as I go on this journey of discovery. I'm always on the lookout for others to join and share the knowledge, so please get in touch if you'd like to contribute.
